With case studies and proven examples, the guide demonstrates that positive change is both possible and achievable.

Mansfield Advisory is proud to have collaboratived in developing a practical resource for delivering a Country-led approach to nature-based design in the built environment.

The Nature Design Guide and supporting resources are available to download below includes a feature on Bio-based materials (made from renewable biological sources) and a deeper dive on Mass Engineered Timber and Engineered Bamboo design elements.

The benefits of using bio-based materials within the built environment include carbon sequestration and lower embodied carbon per functional unit, as well as benefits to people including, connection to Country and nature, increasing urban aesthetic values and mental wellbeing.

Bio-based materials also create benefits that occur offsite during material production such as supporting carbon storage and co-benefits for biodiversity, water systems, land restoration and community wellbeing.
